Ah, muscadine harvest! After all the preparation and waiting, the season is here. The bronze Carlos were heavy on the vines and beautiful. Now we are on to the dark Noble, starting this next week. Here are photos from the first night of harvest 2019, courtesy of cousin Michael Stubblefield. His photos capture some of the drama and excitement. Three hours into the night, a harvester wheel (bearing) issue and almost simultaneous lightning onset stopped us in our tracks. We received over eight inches of rain within just a few hours! Gotta love the uncertainties of farming, no?

Thanks so much for use of your photos, Michael! If you want to see more of Michael’s work, check his website— https://stubblefieldphoto.photoshelter.com
