We can scarcely believe our good fortune at having a break in the August heat! Although we still have days in the low 90's, the evenings are cooling, sometimes to the 50's. Everyone here is happy about the cooler temperatures, including the screech owls, coyotes, and hawks. We've had a couple of rain showers, so the crispy grass has turned green for now, despite our continued drought conditions. There is rain in our weekend forecast, and the tropical storm Isaac provides water cooler conversation regarding potential for a break in the weather pattern. Harvest will be soon--the muscadines continue to ripen!
