Our canines tell us that the dog days of summer arrived early in the Ozarks.  True enough, the growing season started about a month early in Arkansas and the surrounding region.  Some of the area grape vineyards have harvested varieties about a month earlier than usual.  It will be interesting to see how the unusual weather pattern will affect the muscadine crop:  will we have an early harvest this year?  Muscadines are one of the last grapes to be harvested--often not until October.  Fortunately, muscadines like heat, and so far the crop looks good.
