"It never rains at night in July--" ...or so goes the saying quoted by those who've been living around here the longest.  In fact, usually July is a very dry month.  Many of the creek beds go dry, the grass growth slows, and we start wishing for rain.  Since I last posted, we've had over an inch of rain each week, and over two inches one week, mostly in tropical-style downpours over a relatively brief time period.  Last night a storm developed and broadened, and dropping torrential rain at 10:00 p.m.

They say the unusual pattern has been due to a convergence of factors, including gulf moisture from Hurricane Alex, then tropical depression 2.  As I write this, the conditions are changed, and I think we are going back to a more normal July.
