We had our first ripe muscadine this weekend!  There was only one, and it was delicious--so good that it reminds us why we go to the effort to cultivate muscadines.  The delicious fruit is the payoff.  In the meanwhile, we've been feasting on the local peaches and some delicious Arkansas watermelons.  The peaches are so sweet this year, adding sugar is absolutely unnecessary.  We did have a delicious peach cobbler, though, with the fresh peaches.  What a treat!

We're starting to anticipate harvest so we'll be ready when the muscadines are at peak ripeness.  We had over two inches of rain last evening.  With continued heat, this summer's Arkansas weather is just about muscadine-perfect.
